In Part I of this two-part session, a panel of emerging leaders in the industry will provide a newcomer’s guide to the industry. Our speakers each represent a unique service role in the captive industry and will speak to the various functions necessary to create and maintain a successful captive. Whether you are a student interested in learning more or already working within the industry and looking to expand your knowledge, this session will help you build a strong foundation for success. We will begin with a high-level discussion of a corporation’s risk management needs and break down how a captive can address particular requirements. Learning objectives – Upon completion, participants will be able to: • Recognize the wide-ranging needs a corporate risk management program has and how a captive can address them • Differentiate the varying roles captive service providers play in the captive space • Apply captive knowledge to their career path

Session Speakers
Organization: Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer PC
Peter is a member of the captive insurance, corporate, and financial services practice groups at Primmer Piper Eggleston & Cramer PC in Burlington, Vermont. He assists companies in the formation and ongoing representation of captives and other risk financing vehicles and advises captives with respect to corporate and regulatory compliance matters. He also represents banks and financial institutions in corporate and regulatory matters as well as contract and governance issues. Peter has experience with mergers and acquisitions, conversions, dissolutions, and other major corporate transactions in both the insurance and banking spaces.
Organization: AIG Captive Solutions
Nina joined AIG in July 2021 and has over 10 years of captive insurance experience. Prior to joining AIG, Nina was a Senior Accountant at captive manager Beecher Carlson Insurance Services, and was previously an auditor at Johnson Lambert LLP, a CPA and consulting firm that specializes in providing tax and audit services to the insurance industry. At Johnson Lambert, Nina had experience auditing captives and commercial insurance companies.
In her free time, Nina enjoys playing golf, volunteering at the Humane Society of Chittenden County and exploring Burlington with her friends and family.
Mike is an Associate Portfolio Manager responsible for day-to-day operation and management of Performa’s cash management and short duration treasury strategies. He also provides quantitative and modeling analysis across investment strategies and general support to Performa’s investment management, relationship management and business development teams. Mike previously worked at Performa as an Operational Data Analyst and was responsible for building out data links and processes among various integral systems throughout the firm. He continues to lead the effort of streamlining data reporting and system processes. He joined Performa in 2016 after graduating from the University of Vermont with a B.S. in business administration and holds the chartered financial analyst (CFA®) designation from the CFA® institute.

Maigh Wright’s aim as a consulting actuary in the Property & Casualty field is to provide valuable insight into the risk management practices of my clients. Her experience includes loss reserving, ratemaking, and data analysis for a variety of client types including multiline property and casualty insurers, captives, self-insurers, risk retention groups, reinsurance pools, and state insurance departments. She was an Associate Actuary at Milliman for ten years before assuming her current role, in 2020, as Marsh’s Vice President & Actuarial Consultant.
