    Too many captive board meetings become perfunctory over time, limiting the value the captive provides to its parent organization(s). During this session, the speakers will explore a number of tools and ideas for invigorating board members and cultivating their engagement before, during and after board meetings. A panel comprised of a captive consultant and two captive board members will touch on how to make pre-meeting dinners constructive; illustrate healthy and counterproductive board member behaviors and offer creative ways to bolster your captive board meetings.

    Learning objectives – Upon completion, participants will be able to:

    • Inspire board members to engage in strategic thinking to develop new captive utilizations
    • Encapsulate and follow through on post-board responsibilities and deliverables
    • Determine the overarching goals and subtext of each captive board meeting

Julie is the CEO and President of PCH, providing liability insurance to over 2,800 long term care facilities in 47 states. A former litigator and current business consultant, Julie uses a 360 perspective to address the unique demands of running a risk retention group. Julie also chaired the National Risk Retention Association Conference in 2018 and 2019. She values innovation, advocates in Washington on behalf of the captive industry and speaks passionately on a range of important topics to the industry. She was named to Captive Review’s 2020 and 2021 Power 50.

A seasoned commercial insurance professional with over 30 years of experience, Dave joined EIIA as its new president and CEO in June, 2022. With a background in underwriting, sales and operations, Dave most recently served as Senior Vice President at religious organization and nonprofit specialist GuideOne Insurance Company. Previously, he worked in a variety of leadership roles with State Auto, RTW and the Benfield Group.

Bruce Whitmore serves as a Senior Consultant and Senior Vice President in WTW’s Global Captive and Health Care Practices and developed a wide range of captive and commercial insurance solutions for hospitals, physicians, healthcare facilities and miscellaneous healthcare professionals. Bruce has also created numerous offshore and onshore single-parent and group captives. Bruce has been responsible for managing captive service provider relationships including fronting, reinsurance, actuarial, claims management, brokerage, offshore management, banking and accounting. Bruce is a regular speaker at industry events including ASHRM, SCCIA, CICA, NRRA and the Cayman Captive Forum.
