    Headlines about wrongdoing at many high-profile organizations continue to increase the pressure on business leaders to reclaim peoples’ trust.  Leaders are increasingly challenged to find ways to deepen trust, foster collaboration, empower their people, and build customer loyalty.
     
    This session will focus on the unique and powerful role ethical leadership plays in successful organizations today. 
     
    Learning objectives: Session attendees will leave being able to:  
                                 - Examine the great leadership habits that enhance and support an ethical culture
                                    - Process the stages of moral reasoning when dealing with difficult decisions and determine which actions are best
                                 - Understand leadership virtues that when internalized and practiced, can empower one’s people to help create and support an ethical culture in the organization
     
    This session will offer practical techniques and critical thinking skills to help leaders make their decisions at the right time, for the right reason.

Organization: AES Global Insurance Company


Andrew Baillie is the Program Director of Global Insurance for the AES Corporation, a global power producer and distributor headquartered in Arlington, Va., with operations in 15 countries around the world. Andrew supports risk management oversight and the procurement of insurance for the AES Corporation for development and operational assets globally as well as managing the company’s large, Vermont-based Captive Insurance Company. Andrew has worked for AES since 2006, during which time the company’s risk management and insurance programs have developed to become world leaders among energy industry peers. In addition to almost 20 years of experience in global insurance program management, Andrew has been a regular presenter at conferences and events.

Ryan Gadapee's practice focuses primarily on the representation of domestic and international insurers and reinsurers including captives, reciprocals, and risk retention groups. Ryan's practice includes representing clients in regulatory, legislative, transactional, and general corporate matters. His diverse experience includes his role as general counsel of a Florida based property insurer during its initial growth and expansion phases and time with a national carrier where he had primary responsibility for the litigated claims arising out of the historic 2004-2005 Florida hurricane seasons. He has experience in creating and maintaining policy forms and underwriting manuals; claims handling and defense; and ongoing corporate and regulatory compliance. Ryan was a frequent participant and representative to industry associations and events, including significant experience with legislative matters. He was recognized for his ability to foster relationships with key legislators, regulators, and stakeholders from all sides in order to achieve the goals of his clients.



As Bar Counsel, Michael's principal role is to lend guidance to lawyers on how to comply with Vermont Rules of Professional Conduct, aka "the ethics rules." He's been doing so since 2012. Prior to that, he spent 12 years as a State's disciplinary prosecutor. Michael grew up in Vermont, graduated from UVM, and went to George Washington University Law School. He's a former president of the Vermont Bar Association.
