Organization: Lake Champlain Chocolates

Eric Lampman has a passion for food culture. It emerged from watching his parents cook at home, pulling up garden carrots as a kid, and tasting new foods traveling abroad. Along the way, he developed a curiosity for the methods that create flavor and the people behind those methods. As a member of the Research & Development team at Lake Champlain Chocolates, Eric traveled to cacao farms in the Dominican Republic in 2009. Meeting with farmers and learning the agricultural practices that shape the raw material for his family’s business ignited a new interest. This experience was pivotal in defining the company’s focused commitment to organic and fair-trade sourcing. Social and environmental sustainability and the connection to where food comes from are significant values personally and in his work. Today, as an owner and President of Lake Champlain Chocolates, he leads the company of more than 100 employees with a dedication to product innovation and integrity, while reinforcing the company’s employee culture and brand. About Lake Champlain Chocolates Since 1983, Lake Champlain Chocolates has worked in pursuit of extraordinary chocolate moments™. As a pioneer in the American chocolate movement, the Vermont chocolate company strives to create only the best-tasting chocolates imaginable. In the early days this meant sourcing the highest-quality fresh, local ingredients and never using preservatives or artificial flavors. Today, the second-generation, family-owned company’s pursuit of the extraordinary continues. As a Certified B Corporation®, the company is committed not only to be the best in the world, but to be the best for the world by supporting cacao growing communities and using 100% fair trade certified chocolate, reducing toxins in the environment by
